Jonathon Carmichael - Founder & Executive Director

Fascinated since childhood by movie special effects, animatronics, and creature design, Jonathon earned degrees in Special Effects and Industrial Design Technology.

Now back in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, Jonathon leverages his diverse background and personal dedication as a lifelong collector of physical media and artwork. Erika Fritz - President & Treasurer

As co-owner of The Killer Video Museum in her hometown of Akron, Ohio, Erika has transformed a love of vintage media into a thriving cultural hub celebrating fringe media and underground film culture.

She plays a vital role in shaping the strategic vision of Legacy Media Preservation, ensuring that underrepresented voices and obsolete formats are protected and made accessible for generations to come.

In addition to her museum work, Erika (M.A., M.Ed.) has collaborated on educational projects that promote media literacy and access. Her leadership helps guide Legacy’s mission to protect and share marginalized media histories with integrity, creativity, and a focus on community-centered initiatives.

  • Alina O'Connell - Secretary

Alina grew up in the greater Columbus area and moved to Akron after graduating from Ohio State University (B.S). She quickly fell in love with the city and has proudly devoted her time and energy to volunteering with many local organizations over the years as well as currently sitting on the boards of three nonprofits.

Throughout her life, she often felt that she had no one with which to share her love of horror movies and all things spooky. After the pandemic, she created Akron Horror Hounds, a social club which aims to bring together anyone who loves to watch scary movies. She’s seen the club flourish into a congregation of local like-minded fans who get together a few times each month.

Alina is thrilled to be a part of the Killer Video team; she aims to bring her love of classic media and horror movies to her beloved community.
